This week in Smarties we have welcomed new children. We have been focusing on nursery rhymes, the children have enjoyed exploring the nursery rhyme corner and singing at carpet time.
This week in Smarties we have been learning about oral hygiene. Each child has been given a toothbrush and toothpaste to take home. A big thank you to all parents who helped by donating prizes, buying buns and raffle tickets to help our fundraising efforts.
This week in Smarties the children have been decorating Easter pots ready for chocolate eggs! We have also celebrated World Book Day, children and staff came to school dressed in pyjamas and brought their favourite story to share with the class. We have also taken part in Science Week with a colours experiment. After last week's story (Dear Zoo) we wrote a letter to the zoo to ask them to send us a pet. Each day a parcel has arrived with a different animal inside, the children have worked very hard to recall the story.
This week in Smarties the children have enjoyed playing in the snow. Afterwards, we all had a yummy hot chocolate to warm us up. Ella brought in some eggs from her ducks at home, the children were especially intrigued by the black egg!
This week in Smarties, we joined F1 children for a road safety talk and demonstration. The children took turns to use the zebra crossing. We have also tasted Chinese food. The children enjoyed trying noodles, rice, sweet chili sauce and prawn crackers.
This week in Smarties we have been looking at ice. The children enjoyed pouring warm water onto the ice blocks to melt them and free the trapped snowy animals! We have also tasted pancakes with jam and chocolate spread, the children really enjoyed their treat!
This week in Smarties, our story has been 'Elmer'. We have been focusing on recognising colours. You could take time at home with your child looking at and naming colours.
This week in Smarties the children enjoyed a visit from Beat Baby. The children clapped a beat and sang a special song to wake Beat Baby up. Each child had the opportunity to hold and tickle Beat Baby. Have a look at the pictures on our display board!
This week in Smarties we have been talking about Winter. The children have looked at ice and snow. The children have enjoyed exploring our Winter Wonderland role play corner and playing in the fake snow with the snowy animals. The children also enjoyed a 'Move and Make Music' session.
This week in Smarties we have welcomed some new children and settled back in after the Christmas break. The children have been looking at snowy pictures and have used white paint and glitter to create their own.
This week in Smarties we have enjoyed lots of Christmas fun! The children enjoyed their Christmas party and a visit from Father Christmas! Merry Christmas from Smarties staff!
This week in Smarties the children have made Christmas collages using scissors, glue, glitter and shiny paper. They have also enjoyed tasting Christmas cake and cheese.
This week in Smarties the children have each made a Christmas card. They have also enjoyed exploring our Christmas role play area and decorating the Christmas tree on our atelier table.
This week in Smarties the children have decorated a bauble each using glue and glitter. These baubles will form our Christmas display in Smarties.
This week in Smarties the children have made bone-shaped dog treats. The children helped to weigh out the ingredients, mix the dough and cut out the bone shapes.
This week in Smarties the children have made their own fat balls to feed the birds. They then hung up the feeders and we talked about the birds we could see in our outdoor environment.
This week in Smarties we have been talking about the fireworks the children have seen. We discussed the colours they saw and the noises they heard. The children have made a class firework picture for the wall.
