Friends of Cortonwood

The 'Friends of' group was set up in 2011 with the aim of extending parental involvement in school.  We are passionate about helping in school and giving all our families the best experience of being at Cortonwood.

We meet regularly and organise a wide variety of events to help raise money and have fun.  Some of the events we have offered  include visits from Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny, a Pancake Breakfast, Beetledrive and Easter Egg Hunt and a Family Fun Night.  We also enjoy helping school with annual events such as Cortonwood's Got Talent and the Summer Fayre.

Our themed raffles such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day raffle have proved very popular as is the recently introduced 50p Friday raffle.  The children have designed tea towels and have recorded a school Christmas cd which have made fantastic gifts.  Thanks to the generosity of our families and friends, we raise funds from these events which are then used for projects which benefit the whole school.  The recent fundraising has paid for a Theatre company to come in to school to perform Cinderella for the children.

We are keen to encourage more family and friends to be involved and are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money for school.  No matter how much or how little time you have to spare, we welcome your ideas and involvement.  To find out more, please contact the office.  Regular updates about our events and activities are on the school newsletter.

Keep an eye on our noticeboard by the office to read about current raffles, events and see minutes of meetings.

We have contributed to many school activities this half term. We have paid for 30 hockey sets, which will extend the provisions for children in Games / P.E. We are fundraising to provide more outdoor equipment for use in lessons and at playtime and dinnertime.

We have paid for the Wigwam which cost us £600.00. We are thrilled with the quality of the wigwam and would like to thank Wathwood Farm Shop for working so hard on this.

We have also paid for M & M Theatre productions to come in to school and perform Treasure Island. The children loved this and we would very much like to see these visits continue in school.

This has made an impact on our funds which currently stand at £430.35. We will support the school with Christmas activities. We like every child to receive a selection box on behalf of 'Friends of'. We will also continue to support the Christmas Hamper event alongside school and the Salvation Army.

Our funds continue to be boosted by our 50p Friday and we thank you all for your continued support with this. If you would like to get involved or have some ideas for the raffle, please come along to school and share them with us or leave a message with Mrs Salmons at the office.
